About Sedona Crystal Temple

Our Story

Our journey with sound began in 2009, when we attended Double Gong meditations with Sangeet Kaur Khalsa and Hari Nam Singh at Yoga Phoenix. We first encountered these instruments as recipients, experiencing the depth, spaciousness and energetic quality that sound could create.

We moved to Sedona in 2012, and in 2015 entered Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training, where our relationship with meditation, mantra, kriya and crystal singing bowls deepened considerably.

What began as personal practice gradually became something we felt called to share. Over the years, sound became increasingly central to our lives and work, eventually growing into Sedona Crystal Temple: a dedicated space for receiving, practicing, teaching and exploring sound.

What we offer today has grown through years of listening, experimentation, facilitating sessions and simply spending time with these instruments. Rather than following a fixed formula, we continue to approach sound with curiosity, sensitivity and respect for what unfolds in the room.

Meet Tara Kaur and Joshua

Tara Kaur and Joshua are the founders and practitioners behind Sedona Crystal Temple. Both are Reiki Masters and teachers of Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and meditation, with many years of experience exploring sound, energy, awareness and creative practice.

Although we share much of this work together, each of us brings a different sensitivity and background into the Temple.

Tara Kaur

Tara Kaur has worked in the healing arts since 2005, with a practice that includes energy healing, Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy. Her work is deeply intuitive and centered around presence, sensitivity and listening.

Tara also creates the necklaces and malas offered through Bowls of Sound, bringing the same care and attention into her jewelry work.

Joshua

Joshua is a visual artist and professional photographer whose creative life has long been shaped by nature, light, stillness and perception. His relationship with sound grew from that same sensitivity to subtlety, composition and space.

Years of working closely with crystal singing bowls and gongs have developed a deep familiarity with resonance, harmonics, tonal character and the ways instruments interact within a larger sound field.

The Temple Today

Sedona Crystal Temple has grown into a space devoted almost entirely to sound. The Temple is home to around 1,000 crystal singing bowls and seven resonant gongs, including our 60-inch Paiste Symphonic Gong.

We facilitate private and community sound healing experiences, offer sound healing classes and trainings, provide individual guidance for those choosing crystal singing bowls, and continue our own daily exploration of sound, resonance and listening.

Working with such a large and varied collection of instruments has given us the opportunity to hear thousands of relationships between notes, octaves, harmonics, materials and tonal characters. That ongoing experience continues to shape both our sessions and the way we teach.

Our Approach to Sound

We do not believe sound needs to fit neatly into a chart, formula or prescribed experience. A note may traditionally be associated with a particular chakra or quality, but our first question is always simpler: Where do you feel it?

We listen closely to how instruments meet one another, how harmonics develop in the room, how resonance changes with space and placement, and how sound is actually received by the person listening.

Some combinations feel deeply consonant. Others create movement, tension, beating or monaural pulsation. Silence matters too. Over time, our practice has become as much about listening as playing.

The intention is not to create as much sound as possible. It is to give sound, resonance and silence enough space to be fully experienced.

Our Sound Library and Creative Work

Together, we also create and record long-form sound journeys as auditory artists devoted to the exploration of healing through sound. The Sedona Crystal Temple YouTube channel remains home to the majority of our growing archive, with an extensive collection of crystal singing bowl and gong recordings created for meditation, rest and intentional listening.

Our music is also now available across major streaming platforms, allowing these sound journeys to be experienced in more ways and in more places.

Many recordings feature individual bowls, harmonic pairs and complete sets, offering listeners a closer experience of each instrument’s tonal character, resonance and harmonics through high-fidelity audio.

This growing body of work has become an important part of what we share, extending the sounds of the Temple beyond Sedona and making them available to listeners around the world.

Sacred Singing Bowls

In 2023, we began a new chapter with the creation of Sacred Singing Bowls™, our own line of crystal singing bowls for practitioners, collectors, and sound enthusiasts.

This offering grew naturally from years of listening, learning, healing, and sharing sound with others. Sacred Singing Bowls™ reflects our devotion to quality, beauty, resonance, and the deeper relationship people can have with sound as a living practice.

Our experience listening to and working with thousands of crystal singing bowls has developed a deep familiarity with bowl construction, tonal character, octave, tuning, harmonics, resonance and playing response. Sacred Singing Bowls™ grew from that experience and from our desire to create instruments we genuinely wanted to hear and play ourselves.
