Private Sound Healing in Sedona: What to Expect and How to Choose the Right Session

A private sound healing session offers a quiet, personal setting to experience crystal singing bowls, gongs, resonance and silence without the dynamics of a larger group.

At Sedona Crystal Temple, each session is prepared with care for individuals, couples, families and small private groups. Cushioned receiving spaces, blankets, pillows, bolsters and eye pillows make it easier to settle in, get comfortable and give your attention to the sound.

The session unfolds gradually through carefully chosen bowls and gongs. We listen closely to tone, spacing, volume and how the instruments are sounding together in the room. At times the resonance may feel full and expansive. At other moments, there may be very little sound at all.

There is nothing you need to accomplish and no particular way you are supposed to feel. You can simply listen, rest and notice what arises.

What Is a Private Sound Healing Session?

A private sound healing session offers a more personal, spacious way to receive the vibration of sound.

Rather than sharing the room with a larger group, you are welcomed into a quiet one-on-one session or a private shared group experience, where there is more space to settle, receive, and be met with care.

At Sedona Crystal Temple, private sessions are offered with gongs and crystal singing bowls in a peaceful space designed for deep rest and rejuvenation.

What to Expect During a Private Session

When you arrive, there is time to ease into the room before the sound begins. Your receiving space is prepared with cushioned mats, blankets, pillows, bolsters and an eye pillow, so you can get comfortable and allow the body to relax.

Once you are comfortable, we begin slowly. Crystal singing bowls and gongs enter gradually as we listen closely to tone, volume, pacing and how each sound carries through the room. At times the resonance may feel deep and full. At other times, the room may become very quiet.

You may stay completely aware, drift toward sleep, notice subtle sensations in the body or simply become absorbed in listening. There is no particular response we are looking for and nothing you need to make happen. The session has its own natural rhythm, and you can simply receive it as it comes.

How the Experience May Feel in the Body

Sound is heard through the ears, but lower, more resonant frequencies can also be felt as vibration in the body. During a session, you may notice subtle sensations, shifts in your breathing, places where you are holding tension, or changes that become noticeable as you grow quiet and listen.

Some people become deeply relaxed. Others stay fully alert and enjoy following the tones, harmonics and movement of sound through the room. What you notice can be different each time.

We do not expect sound to create any particular physical response. There is nothing you need to look for. Simply get comfortable, listen closely and notice what you experience for yourself.

Who Private Sound Healing Is For?

Private sound healing can be a good fit if you prefer a quieter, more personal setting or simply want more room to settle into the experience.

It may be especially appealing for:

  • first-time guests who feel more comfortable starting in a one-on-one setting
  • anyone wanting uninterrupted time to rest and listen
  • couples who want to experience the session together
  • families and small private groups
  • those who feel especially drawn to crystal singing bowls and gongs
  • guests who prefer more privacy than a community sound bath offers

You do not need a particular reason to book a private session. Some people come because they want quiet time for themselves. Others are curious about sound, want to hear the instruments more closely, or simply enjoy experiencing them in a smaller, more intimate setting.

How to Choose the Right Session Length

The best session length depends less on experience and more on how much time you would like to give yourself. Every session is approached with the same care. The main difference is how much time there is to settle in, listen and let the sounds develop at an unhurried pace.

35-Minute Session

A shorter introduction to private sound healing. This works well if you have limited time, are curious about the experience or prefer a more concise session.

70-Minute Session

Our most balanced option and a good place to begin. Seventy minutes gives you time to get comfortable, experience a wider range of crystal singing bowls and gongs, and move between fuller passages of sound and quieter moments without feeling rushed.

100-Minute Session

Our longest private session. The additional time allows us to move more slowly, spend longer with particular bowls and gongs, and leave more space between sounds. This can be a good choice if you want an extended period to rest, listen and receive.

Private Sound Healing vs Community Sound Bath

Both private sound healing and community sound baths offer time to rest, listen and receive sound. The main difference is the setting.

A private session gives you more quiet, privacy and room to settle in without sharing the space with a larger group. It can work especially well for individuals, couples, families and small groups who prefer a more intimate setting.

A community sound bath has a different feeling. You receive the sound alongside other guests, sharing the room and the experience as the crystal singing bowls and gongs move through the space.

Some people naturally prefer the privacy of an individual session. Others enjoy the feeling of receiving sound in community. It really comes down to which setting feels right for you.

Is This Good for Beginners?

Yes. No previous experience with sound healing, meditation or crystal singing bowls is needed.

A private session can be a comfortable way to begin because the setting is quiet and personal, with time to get settled before we begin. You do not need to understand frequencies, chakras or musical theory, and there is nothing you need to do once the session starts.

Simply get comfortable, breathe naturally and listen.

What Makes Sedona Crystal Temple Different?

Sedona Crystal Temple is a dedicated sound healing studio where sound is at the center of what we do. It is not something added to another experience. The room, the instruments and the way we approach each session have all been shaped around listening.

Private sessions draw from a large collection of crystal singing bowls and seven gongs, including a 60-inch Paiste Symphonic Gong. Having so many instruments to choose from allows us to explore different tones, harmonics and combinations rather than playing the same small group of bowls and gongs in every session.

Tara Kaur and Joshua work directly with guests and have spent years studying and practicing with crystal singing bowls, gongs, meditation, resonance and silence. We listen carefully to the instruments, the room and the pace of each session, while allowing each person to experience the sound in their own way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Wear whatever allows you to rest comfortably. Soft, relaxed clothing is ideal, and no special attire is needed. Blankets and other comfort supports are provided during your session.

Do I lie down during the session?

Most guests choose to lie down on our deeply cushioned receiving mats, but you are welcome to sit or adjust your position at any time. We can also provide additional pillows, bolsters or other support to help you stay comfortable throughout the session.

Can I come if I have never done sound healing before?

Absolutely. No previous experience with sound healing or meditation is needed. Private sessions can be especially comfortable for first-time guests because the setting is quiet, personal and unhurried. You can simply get comfortable, listen and notice the experience in your own way.

Can couples book together?

Yes. Private sound healing sessions can be booked for couples, and many guests enjoy sharing the experience together. Each person has their own comfortable receiving space while the session unfolds through crystal singing bowls, gongs, resonance and silence.

What if I fall asleep?

Falling asleep or drifting into a dreamlike state is very common during a sound session. Other guests remain fully awake and attentive to the tones and vibrations. There is no right way to experience the session, and you do not need to stay awake to receive it.

How do I know which session to choose?

If you are new to private sound healing, the 70-minute session is a balanced place to begin. Choose the 35-minute session if you prefer something shorter, or the 100-minute session if you want a slower, more spacious experience with additional time for sound and silence to unfold.

Can I book while visiting Sedona?

Yes. Many guests book a private sound healing session while visiting Sedona. Sedona Crystal Temple is located in the Village of Oak Creek, and advance booking is recommended so you can choose the session length and time that works best with your visit.
